Interestingly the first known chemist appears to be a woman from Mesopotamian. A cuneiform tablet from the second millenium B.C. mentions Tapputi who was a perfumer and palace overseer. She distilled the essence of flowers and other aromatic materials, filtered them, added water and returned them to the still several times until her concoction was complete. Read Our Full Article.
